Club official, Pepe Costa came to the rescue picking the player up and ensuring that he reached the training ground in time to take the team coach to the airport. The mercurial attacker was however unable to help his team to all three points last night as Barcelona played out a draw at Real Sociedad. Nigeria now ranked 50th best team in the world

Gernot Rohr’s men who were 60th in the previous list are now the 50th best team in the world.

The feat would definitely be attributed to the 2 -1 away win over Zambia on October 9, as well as the famous 3 – 1 hammering of the fennec foxes of Algeria on November 12.

Nigeria now occupy 8th position in Africa behind Senegal (33), Cote d’ voire (34), Tunisia (34), Egypt (36), Algeria (38), Congo DR (47), Burkina Faso (50).

Argentina retain the top spot as the best team in the world followed by Brazil who moved to second, displacing Germany to third.

Nigeria’s best position at the FIFA rankings dates back to the summer of 1994, just after the FIFA Would Cup; the team was the 5th best in the world.

Shehu Garba reacts to reports that Pres. Buhari donated $500m towards Hillary Clinton's campaign

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba, has reacted to online reports in some quarters that President Buhari donated $500 million towards Hillary Clinton's campaign. Garba released a statement reacting to the report. Read below

What is the craziest accusation made against President Buhari? That he donated USD 500 million to Hillary's campaign and that Donald Trump is angry.

This has gone viral, sadly Nigerians are believing it! President Buhari's Nigeria doesn't have this kind of money to throw around. Even if the money is there, this President is the least likely person to give it as donation, and for what? As we speak, President Buhari is concluding agreements with the U.S. to return our stolen money in their banks. A FGN account has already been given for the return of one million Dollars from Alamisiegha. Judgement on the USD 480 million Abacha loot has been won and our Attorney-General, Malami (SAN) will be in the US next week to speak to the Department of Justice, USDOJ on the next steps for the return of that as well. The U.S is paying to Nigeria, not the other way round, abi?

Denver becomes first city in America to allow weed/marijuana use in bars and restaurants

Marijuana loving residents in Denver have officially voted for a 'first in the history of the United States' law that allows residents to smoke weed in bars and restaurants but they must first of all get the approval of neighbors.

According to a report by NBC News, the law takes effect immediately but businesses like bar spots and restaurants would have to show they have neighborhood approval before they can get weed license.

Read the NBC News report below

Denver voters have approved a first-in-the-nation law allowing willing bars and restaurants to give patrons the option to use marijuana alongside a cocktail or meal. The catch: Smoking pot won’t be allowed inside, and the locations would have to first get the approval of neighbors.

Denver voters approved Proposition 300 on the same day that the nation’s largest state of California and two others legalized pot for all adults and five more states approved pot for sick people — signs of society’s increasing tolerance for the drug.

They actually are proud and tell other people that this man is a real man; he knows how to please a woman.’
After his arrest, none of the girls he assaulted came forward to testify against him until two women gave in evidence during his trial after he also confessed to have had sex with newly bereaved widows as part of the ‘cleansing ritual’, according to BBC report.

Aniva who is also being charged with having sex with bereaved widows, which is outlawed under Malawi's Gender Equality Act, will know his faith on Friday, November 18, and if he is convicted he would face possible jail term in Prison.

CBN to Jail Person in Possession of Foreign Currency for More than 30 Days, Faces 2 Years

In a document titled “Working Paper” shared to members of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is seeking powers to amend the Foreign Exchange, Monitoring and Miscellaneous Exchange Act (FEMM) which was signed into law in 2014 and allows for foreign investors to import and repatriate money to and fro Nigeria freely.
Notable among the amendments to be made is that possession of foreign currency for more than 30 days without depositing it in the bank will make one liable to 2 years imprisonment or a fine of 20% of the amount of the foreign currency involved.
The following are some of the amendments the CBN is seeking to make:
The CBN says the act allows for “foreign currency purchased from the market to be repatriated without restrictions” and thus will like this amended. .
The CBN also believes the act “prohibits the seizure, forfeiture or expropriation of imported money by the government without providing exceptions. As such, the CBN wants to have powers to seize any foreign currency”.
The CBN is also unhappy that the law “allows foreign currency in excess of five thousand dollars imported or exported subject to declaration of statistics reason only.”
The CBN is also recommending that it be granted powers to restrict or prohibit the exportation of foreign currency when and where necessary to “protect the economy”.
The CBN also wants powers to “approve and where necessary restrict or prohibit repatriation of foreign currency to save the Nigerian economy”
The CBN also wants an amendment that allows it have the powers to “prevent monopoly and hoarding and a time limit (30 days) for deposit of foreign currency in the bank”.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Named People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive.

People magazine named Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as "The Sexiest Man Alive." The honor was announced by the magazine's editorial director, Jess Cagle, live on "Good Morning America" today.
"Incredibly nice guy, slightly nerdy, smart, very very funny, great sense of humor about himself, but he's got the body of the hulk," said Cagle. "It's like the ultimate, 'Sexiest Man Alive' like we built him from a kit or something."
Johnson has become the highest paid box office star in the world and will lend his voice to Disney's upcoming animated film "Moana," to be released on Nov. 23, 2016.
New categories were also added to one of the People's most anticipated issues of the year, including the "Perfect Pairs," which features sexy superstar duos such as George and Amal Clooney, as well as John Legend and Chrissy Teigen.
Another new category for the issue this year was the "Sexiest Politicians" section, featuring leaders such as California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.
In his interview with People, Johnson said he thinks the sexiest thing about him for his fans is his sense of humor.
"The Rock" also shared one of the most romantic things he's ever done with his girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, who is also the mother of his 11-month-old daughter.
"I was in the kitchen one morning and we were talking about Percy Sledge, [he sings] “When a man loves a woman.” And she goes, “Oh! I love that song!” And then before we went to bed, I called her into the bedroom, put my phone on, hit play and it was [that song]. And we slow danced. On the romantic chart, that might be up there."
The former wrestler also said there's a "good chance" that he would run for president one day.
"I used to say it jokingly but every time I was asked, it was with a real genuine interest. And it was very earnest. And so I started to really think. Could I make a difference? Could I surround myself with really brilliant people to help me make decisions? Do I care about this country? And when the answers continued to come up yes, then I thought, there’s a good chance. Yeah, one day," he told the magazine.
The special issue hits newsstands nationwide on Friday.

But more are not being treated for it.The troubling trend suggests doctors are afraid to ask about and treat depression, which is a major cause of suicide, the researchers said. And they say it's important to find out why rates are up."The 12-month prevalence of major depressive episodes increased from 8.7 percent in 2005 to 11.3 percent in 2014 in adolescents and from 8.8 percent to 9.6 percent in young adults," Dr. Ramin Mojtabai of Johns Hopkins University and colleagues wrote in their report published in the journal Pediatrics.
For their report, Mojtabai and colleagues looked at surveys of more than 170,000 teens and another nearly 180,000 adults aged 18 to 25.

Fayose questions Buhari’s appointment of Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria

The Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has raised the alarm over possibility of preventing Justice Walter Onnoghen from becoming the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), saying his appointment as Acting CJN was “either a grand plot to deprive him of his well-deserved appointment as CJN because he is from the South-South region or those cabals in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa want to hold him in the jugular, using his confirmation as substantive CJN to get him to assist them to pervert justice.”
In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said it was strange that despite that the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended only Justice Onnoghen to President Muhammadu Buhari for appointment as the CJN in line with its rules, since October 13, his name was not sent to the Senate for confirmation.
The governor said that Nigeria is having an acting CJN for the first time in its history despite that Justice Onnoghen’s name was sent to President Muhammadu Buhari early enough.
He said: “As at the time the NJC recommended Justice Onnoghen to President Buhari, it was 28 clear days to the November 10, 2016 retirement date of Justice Mahmud Mohammed.

Justice Walter Onnoghen
“Why then was his (Justice Onnoghen) name not sent to the Senate for confirmation? Why appointing him as Acting CJN when his name should have been sent to the Senate between October 13, 2016 that he was recommended to the president and November 10, 2016 that Justice Mahmud Mohammed retired?
“Obviously, there is more to this acting CJN appointment than meet the eyes and in my opinion, it could be that President Buhari never wanted Justice Onnoghen as a substantive CJN because he is from the South-South or that they want to use his pending appointment as substantive CJN to make him do their biddings.”
He lamented that “They have subdued the national assembly and are now in the last stage of muscling democracy by subduing the judiciary.
“If men of good conscience, especially leading lights in the legal profession refuse to raise their voices against this tyranny, they will all be consumed by the tyrant.”
Governor Fayose, who said playing politics with the judiciary, especially at the CJN level was dangerous to the survival of democracy, urged Justice Onnoghen to do his job without fear or favour, “bearing in mind that it is only God that put people in positions.”
“I am sure those who made sure Justice Onnoghen’s name was not sent to the Senate for confirmation until the tenure of Justice Mahmud Mohammed expired knew what they were doing. They obviously needed a situation where the CJN, being in acting capacity will be subservient to them, using his appointment as substantive CJN as bait.
“However, Justice Onnoghen must live above that temptation of wanting to be the substantive CJN at the expense of strict adherence to the rule of law and principles of democracy.
“He must resist any attempt to further gag the judiciary even if that will cost him his appointment as the substantive CJN,” the governor said.

Murray, Djokovic begin quest for year-end top spot.

LONDON: Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic will stage a dramatic battle to finish 2016 on top of the world as the two old rivals aim for the title at the ATP Tour Finals.

A friendly rivalry that began 15 years ago when they first faced off in European junior tournaments will reach a new level over the week as they fight to end the year as the world number one.

Murray shattered Djokovic’s 122-week reign at the top last weekend when the Wimbledon champion became the first British man to reach pole position in the ATP rankings.

But Murray has only a 405-point lead over Djokovic in the rankings and the Scot can be passed by the Serb if he doesn’t match or better his rival’s performance at the prestigious season-ending event at London’s O2 Arena.

As the top two seeds, Murray and Djokovic have been drawn in different groups in the eight-player tournament, meaning they can’t meet before the semi-finals.

If their 35th Tour-level meeting comes in the final, it would be a fitting occasion to decide the top ranking, which last changed hands at the Tour Finals in 2001 when Lleyton Hewitt supplanted Gustavo Kuerten.

Murray has enjoyed an incredible 11 months on and off the court in which he has won Wimbledon for the second time, claimed a second Olympic singles gold medal and become a father to baby daughter Sophia.

“This year is the best I’ve had on court, the last few months have been the best in terms of my consistency,” Murray said. “Away from the court it’s been by far the best in my life, a big change and a great change. I’ve really enjoyed being a parent.

“When I step on the court I will have a little more confidence and feel better about myself. I don’t want to spend time discussing what’s happened in the last few months. I want to keep getting better. That’s what I’ve always tried to do. I don’t feel any different.”

Although Murray has lost 24 of his clashes with Djokovic, few of his peers on the Tour question his right to be number one after such a strong year.

Djokovic agrees, saying: “I have only words of praise for what he has achieved in the last year or so.

“Definitely he is a well deserved number one at this point. He has been the best player for the last six months without a doubt.

“Whether he can sustain that is not a question for me but looking at his qualities and commitment there is a good chance he can play at this level for a long time.”

Djokovic has been in a slump since winning the French Open in June to complete his career Grand Slam, raising questions about his appetite for continued success.

But the 12-time major winner might find the O2 Arena is the ideal venue to restore his confidence.

He has won the Tour Finals for the last four years and another success this year would equal Roger Federer’s record of six titles.

With Federer and Rafael Nadal both absent due to injury, Djokovic and Murray will be the centre of attention.

They could have very different paths to the trophy as Djokovic holds a remarkable 23-0 combined record against Milos Raonic, Gael Monfils and Dominic Thiem, who comprise his group stage opponents.

In contrast, Murray, who has never been past the semi-finals of the event, has to survive a tricky group featuring US Open champion Stan Wawrinka, as well as Japan’s Kei Nishikori and Croatian Marin Cilic, who have both beaten the Scot this year.
